Katy Nave Kemalyan is an artist, art educator and recently became a MFA Historic Preservation student at Mississippi State University.

Originally from South Texas, Katy attended Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX and received her Bachelor’s of Fine Arts-Painting degree in December 2015. In this program, she was able to spend some time in Greece and Italy with the organizations College Year in Athens, ARCHELON: the Sea Turtle Protection Society of Greece, and R.A.S: Restoring Ancient Stabiae.

She has been a Studio Assistant at Arrowmont School of Crafts (Gatlinburg, TN- 2016 & 2017), Penland School of Crafts (Penland, NC, 2018) and enjoyed volunteering with AmeriCorps NCCC (2016-2017) in California and Louisiana and the American Red Cross (2018-present).

She most recently spent a second year with AmeriCorps as a Volunteer Coordinator at Habitat for Humanity of Tulare/Kings Counties. Katy’s favorite job, besides painting murals, was teaching after school classes to all ages at Hanford’s King’s Art Center which she did from 2019-2023.
